5-10-11 and 9-27-02
It was early spring and we had not been here since 9-27-02. We are Catholic so coming here has special meaning. Holy Hill is beautiful, towering over the Wisconsin countryside atop a glacial hill. This view greets you from the parking lot. Also some history about Holy Hill.
Inside is the original cross first erected by Roman Goetz and Fr. Mathias Werner, the oldest relic at Holy Hill.
Outside are many grottos, and the 12 Stations of the Cross depicted in sculpture. You don’t have to be religious to visit here, many just come to enjoy the view from the scenic tower (one of the spires). It’s open from May 1-Oct 31 (weather permitting).
The interior of the Basilica is so beautiful.
On site is also a gift shop and cafe if you are hungry. Holy Hill welcomes all visitors year ’round. The view alone is worth it!
I vaguely remember my parents taking the entire family there when I was a young child, but I don’t have any memories of it. It was nice to see it through the lens of your camera. Thanks Laurie.
